Owner Debra McGarvey and the stylists at Debra M Salon have a passion for their work, paying close attention to detail. Our specialties include both classic and on-trend haircuts, hairstyling and color, as well as barber services for men.
Debra M is a Paul Mitchell-focused salon, and we use and recommend Paul Mitchell products. We offer services for women, men and children of all ages.
We believe, first and foremost, in the integrity of hair.
Debra McGarvey, Owner of Debra M Salon, has had over 35 years of experience in the beauty industry. With a background in Fashion Design from Bennett College, Debra has worked as an Esthetician, Makeup Artist, Hair Designer, Artistic Director, Educator & Salon Manager.
Debra is both a National Educator & National Color Educator for John Paul Mitchell. She is also an Educator for Beauty Seminars International and Academy Pro, specializing in human hair extensions. After receiving extensive training & several certifications from Paul Mitchell, Debra is more than qualified to bring the runway’s latest styles & techniques to her salon & the public.
Debra has volunteered at Dutchess County BOCES & the Paul Mitchell Academy in Danbury, CT, and she values her time spent with future professionals. The Catharine Street Community Center in Poughkeepsie recognized Debra as one of the 2010 Distinguished Women in the Beauty Salon Industry.
Influenced by her time studying at the Vidal Sassoon Academy, Debra believes in the geometry of hair-to-face shape. Every artist needs her medium of choice, & Debra’s is undoubtedly hair, with makeup as a close second. Debra’s work has appeared on stage, on film & in print and she loves to use local models for her photo shoots. Over 10 aspiring models & assistants have been given the opportunity to work in the fashion industry thanks to Debra.
Debra’s passion for the arts is a driving motivator in her life. A former member of the Board of Trustees for the Mill Street Loft & the former Presidents of Children’s Community Theatre, Debra has always found ways to give back to her community. She’s also volunteered at County Players, TriArts & Arts for Healing at the Mill Street Loft. Debra’s love of animals is evident in her involvement with the John Paul Pet products line & her involvement with the DCSPCA.
Debra plans to make the world a more beautiful place, one client at a time.
